Our sustainable commitments

Urgent need for action!

Through its activity and its development with farmers, Éléphant Vert contributes to 12 of the 17 UN goals for sustainable development. Disseminating good practices is at the heart of our mission.

1 %
of the world's greenhouse gas emissions come from intensive agriculture
0 %
of Europe's arable farmland is used to feed livestock
0 %
of drinking water consumed by agriculture worldwide

Our biocontrol products help protect yields. Our biostimulants and organic fertilisers help increase crop yields to improve farmers’ income.

Éléphant Vert offers local organic alternatives to expensive imported chemical fertilisers. They contribute to improving food security in countries affected by the fertiliser crisis.

We offer alternative plant protection products to chemical pesticides that guarantee increased safety for farmers.

We provide comprehensive information on our packaging and sales materials on product composition, use and precautions to be taken (appropriate equipment).

Elephant Vert promotes diversity and equality in its recruitment and career management policy.

The buffer effect of organic matter limits water pollution (nitrates, phosphates).

Our biocontrol products are alternatives to chemical pesticides, and as such their use contributes to reducing the amount of pesticides in surface waters.

Preservation of water resources: composts provide the soil with stabilised organic matter, which increases the soil’s capacity to retain water and thus withstand droughts. Some of our biostimulation products help to limit water stress and therefore reduce irrigation.

The local production of organic fertilisers and composts creates a new value chain, from the collection of organic substrates to the distribution to farmers. In each composting platform, Eléphant Vert creates the equivalent of 100 direct and indirect jobs in this value chain.

E.g.: collectors, transporters, employees of our sites and distributors.

EV accompanies farmers in the field to install innovative practices through its training courses on good agroecological practices.

EV adopts HR policies that ensure equal social protection for all its employees throughout the Group. EV makes it a point of honour to protect its employees in strict compliance with legal regulations in terms of social declarations, but also by providing a complementary health insurance scheme for all its employees.

We help to promote the principle of the circular economy and strive for a balance between what is taken from nature and what is returned to it. For example, our production activities recycle organic material (AMEO). Composting is often considered the best technology for managing organic waste. In particular, it deactivates bacteria, viruses and weeds present in the raw organic waste due to the temperature rise during the composting process. Our UAB biostimulants and biocontrol solutions use only renewable raw materials.

Organic fertilisers and soil improvers limit the production of greenhouse gases in three ways:

Composting avoids the production of methane that occurs during the anaerobic degradation that is common during landfilling or prolonged storage on a farmer’s farm.

Compost – produced locally – replaces part of the mineral fertilizers whose production and transport over long distances emit CO2.

Finally, some of the carbon in organic matter is sequestered in the soil in the form of stable humic substances.

The use of biosolutions increases yields and therefore overall efficiency (more production for the same amount of emissions).

Biocontrol products are recommended as an alternative to synthetic pesticides that emit large amounts of CO2.

Our water stress biostimulation products help the farmer to adapt to more frequent drought periods.

Our biocontrol products are alternatives to chemical pesticides. As such, their use contributes to reducing the amount of pesticides and their residues in surface waters.

The buffering effect of organic matter limits water pollution linked to fertilisation (nitrates, phosphates).

EV replaces chemical inputs with natural solutions and promotes biodiversity, especially of insects and soil organisms.

Biocontrol products naturally regulate pests and diseases, while preserving beneficials, pollinators and soil life.

Fertilizers, soil improvers and biostimulants restore and increase the quality of the soil and the life in the soil.
